This is one of the most memorable moments during my, what seems like a lifetime, interest in anything railways.

I was 9 years old when this photograph was taken and that is me in short trouses standing at the end of the platform.

This is Billingborough in Lincolnshire where I lived for my first 20 years.

The train is a special tour that was the last train to run on the line from Sleaford through Billingborough to Bourne on Sunday 9th September 1956.
